'Kinnari' - Fuchsia Drakeling

Description

This little OOAK Flower Drakeling, based on a pale pink and white Fuchsia, was hand-sculpted in polymer clay as a birthday present for my Mother :meow: Her favourite flower is the fuchsia. I chose this particular coloured fuchsia, rather than the usual purple coloured ones, as the pink and white matches the colour scheme of her study, where this dragon will be displayed.

The Facebook contest has closed - thanks to everyone who entered!
After reading through the entries - there were so many pretty names suggested! - we finally came to a decision. Our favourite name from the list, and the winner of the contest is....

~~ KINNARI - suggested by Belinda Baker! ~~

Kinnari is a Sanskrit name meaning 'woman horse'. We felt it was a lovely, delicate name that perfectly suited the Drakeling.

She is the first sculpture I've photographed with the new camera I got for my birthday :iconilavplz: It is so crisp and handles the colours very well.

This Drakeling is definitely my best and favourite sculpture so far. She was a challenge to make, especially the fuchsia, but I'm extremely pleased with the outcome. The inspiration for the flower-based design comes from *LhuneArt. She drew a beautiful little dragon with a flower on it's back, and I loved the idea :D See her image here: [link]

I am considering making these drakelings as customs to sell, each one based on different flowers. Would anyone be interested in that? :la:

There are around sixty leaves/petals on her, including the tail, head and shoulders. Each one was individually blended to achieve the gradient and pressed with real leaves for realistic texture.

She is made with various blends of polymer clay, including gold and pearl to give her a beautiful shimmer and pearl-ex powders added for even more sparkle. She is one-of-a-kind and all hand made, without the use of moulds, and has a sturdy wire and tinfoil armature. The flower, stamens and eyes are hand painted with acrylics and she has been sealed with a satin varnish.
She is 8 cm tall (3½") and 19 cm (7½") long to the tip of her tail.
